Survivors include his wife, Anna Estelle Hurt; two sons, Clarence William Hurt of Reva and Charles Edward Hurt of Banco; three daughters, Margaret Estelle Carpenter of Madison, Judy Ann Montag of Haywood and Connie May Knighting of Twyman Mill; two brothers, Benny Hurt of CriglersviUe and Belvin Hurt of Etlan; five sisters, Lula Grayson of CriglersviUe, Louise Brayles of Aylor, Mildred Gordon of Syria, Betty Dyer of Madison and Reda Cave of Etlan; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 29 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Orange, with the Rev. Stanley Borders officiating. Interment was in CriglersviUe Cemetery with full miUtary honors.
PaUbearers were Denny Hurt, Danny Carter, Randolph Hurt, J.W. Hurt, Benjamin Viar and Levi Dyer.
Eleanor Brown
Eleanor DeShazo Brown, a teacher in the counties of King George and Rappahannock, 93, of Ashland, Va., formerly of SperryviUe, died Monday, Nov. 25 in Henrico Health Care Center in Henrico County, Va.
Mrs. Brown was born May 5, 1898, to WUliam Allen and Elizabeth Henderson DeShazo in King George County. Mrs. Brown attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, taught in King George County and in 1925 moved to Rappahannock County, where she made her home in the next 54 years.
Miss DeShazo met and married Maury WiUis Brown, a native of SperryviUe. Here she taught school, was active in the Veterans Foreign Wars and the American Legion Auxiliaries, arts and crafts activities or
