All of Scrabble precinct and half of Sperryville were in the 7th District under the plan put forward by the Assembly. The rest of the county was in the 10th District.
Rappahannock, with less than 7,000 population, was also split during State Senate redistricting. “There was no more reason for doing it then,” said Mr. Baumgardner.
“I’m delighted we’re kept in one piece,” he said.
The latest plan was achieved by taking all of Stafford County out of the 10th District and adding Valley counties, Scrabble and the rest of Sperryville.
“My goal in writing the letter was to keep Rappahannock together,” said Mr. Baumgardner. “In all candor, I’m pleased to see us in the 10th."
