Andrew K. Pratt

finishes course

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Andrew K. Pratt, whose wife, Betty, is the daughter of Martha and George E. Kidwell Jr. of Route 1, Castleton, recently completed a six-week refresher training exercise aboard the destroyer USS Comte De Grasse, homeported in Norfolk.

Mr. Pratt participated in a wide variety of challenging training drills. Damage control was the primary focus of training in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where the crew practiced in recovery of emergency situations from fires and floods to multiple battle hits.

Although all of the damages were simulated, the training environment was made as close to the real thing as possible.

The 1989 graduate of Rappahannock County High School, Sperryville, joined the Navy in August 1989.
