hour per week as necessary to assist paralyzed or weak patients. Being able to sit in a favorite chair or walk outside improves the quality of a patient’s limited life.
With the cold weather, many patients are unable to pay for heat and medical bills. Often they lay in bed in the cold. Hospice needs split wood for heat as well as money to assist with fuel bills. Church and civic groups as well as wood cutters are asked to contact Hospice if they are willing to donate and deliver wood to patients. Designated donations for fuel assistance may be sent to Hospice and will be used for direct patient needs.
Incontinence briefs and pads are needed to distribute to patients who are financially unable to purchase these items. Wheelchairs and bedside commodes in good condition are also needed for these patients. If you have these items to donate, please take them to the Hospice office at 211 Waters Place, Culpeper.
In non-patient related needs, volunteers for office work such as filing, typing, or posting will increase office efficiency. Drivers with four wheel drives, willing to transport nursing personnel during bad weather, need to call the office at 703-825-4840 with their name and telephone number. Drivers are needed in each of the counties Hospice serves: Madison, - Rappahannock and Culpeper.
