According to the Culpeper-based Services to Abused Families, Inc. (SAFE), one in four families in this areas suffers from the effects of violence in the home.
SAFE offers a number of programs to reach out and help those in need to break self-destructive patterns by building coping skills and holding support groups.
Among the SAFE offerings are:
• A Women’s Support Group, 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Mondays in downtown Warrenton. Call Dotty Larson at 703-825-8876 for the exact location and further details. Free.
• A Women’s Support and Skills Building Group, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the Town of Culpeper. A self-esteem building group for children five-and-up runs concurrently. Call Dotty Larson at 703825-8876 for details. Free.
• A Women’s Crisis Management Group, 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m. Mondays in Culpeper. A children’s play group runs concurrently.
