We’vf returned to more seasonal temperatures following last week’s 70-degree temperatures. It was amazing to see several robins on Sunday following welcome rains.

It’s time to get out the Christmas decorations. The Amissville Ruritan Club will recognize persons having the most beautiful outside Christmas decorations — both lights and natural. This year, anyone living within a five-mile radius of the post office, and desiring to be considered, should write to the Club at P.0. Box 62, Amiss ville, Va. 22002. Provide directions to your home, your phone number and name, and whether you desire to be considered for lights or natural decorations, or both. Judging will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 14 and Dec. 21.

The Ruritan Club is also seeking nominations for the second annual “Citizen of the Year" award. To be eligible, nominees should live in Fauquier, Culpeper, or Rappahannock counties, and have contributed significantly to the community of Amissville. Send your nominations to the Club at P.O. Box 62, Amissville, Va. 22002. They should be received no later than Jan. 7.
