Vernon's Victory was bred by Rose Marie Bogley in Middleburg. His sire is Olympic Victory, and he is out of the mare Maid To Market, by Board Marker. He was shipped off as a 2-year-old to find his fame and fortune at close-by Charles Town race track in West Virginia.
”1 was always looking for good steeplechase types,” explained veterinarian Candace Lundin. “Tim Condon and,.I heard of a hurdle prospect in Atoka. When we went to look at him, the horse was a nervous wreck, plus he was about 150 pounds underweight.”
Lundin and Condon decided that he was indeed a “chaser type,” and decided to take a chance with this unschooled jumper. “We turned him out for six weeks then put him into training.” said Lundin.Thus
