Though he had won only one race on the flat, he was a quick study over fences and trainer Condon started him at the Feb. 21, 1990, Casanova Point-toPoint in maiden hurdle company. Vemon gave owner Lundin confidence in her choice as he ran very well, placing second at Casanova. His second start, however, was telling of some hard luck to come.
