would happily bill persons interested in donating for a predetermined amount each month or interested persons may come in and select volumes on a pay as you go basis. Mrs. Parrish emphasized.that the staff of the bookstore would answer any questions at 675-1300.
All the parties involved expressed hope that a program without a lot of rigid rules would encourage as many donors as possible. “We will try to accomodate people. Some people don’t want to come in,” Mrs. Parrish stated,”—they live too far away to make it convenient— so they prefer to call in a donation and have a selection made for them. Others prefer to look over the shelves and actually, physically handle their gift to the library.”
Spreading the donation over months may allow donations from many families or individuals who might not otherwise be able to contribute, especially in these hard economic times.
One local parent applauded the idea of giving a book a month: “We can’t afford to give one lump sum— but we would still like to help fill the shelves in the new library, so we are giving $10 a month. We will just cut one trip to a fast food place and do something much more worthwhile.”
