Following is a study of top trainers and some runners under their tutelage that should make the running this spring.
Pete Aylor: Aylor conditioned the 1991 VS A Hurdle Horse of the year, Vernon’s Victory, and says that the 7-year-old will return to the track this spring. Aylor will also be racing a new addition from his Flint Hill training yard. Old Dominion MFH William Osier has just purchased a well-bred 8-year-old gelding by The Minstrel to run in his colors this year.
Oliver Brown: The huntsman for the Rappahannock Hunt will again fill the timber division. Champion lady rider Dawn Dugan said that she will get the call on most of the mounts as she did in ’91. Brown’s timber runners Crab Apple and Oliver’s Tiger dominated the point-to-point scene last season.
David Bourke: This Irish import ranked fifth on the ’91 VSA trainer’s list. “I won the riding championship for the VSA in 1988 and’89,” said Bourke. “Now I really am
