Great Meadow in 1983 was granted a special zoning exception by Fauquier County to conduct steeplechasing and other non-profit community activities on agriculturally zoned land to advance the deepseated local cultural and educational benefit of steeplechasing, equestrian and community events and their charitable characteristics.
