years. The Casanova native has been involved with point-topointing since the early 1963, when she started ridingladies’ timber races.
“I never really went to the races before I started racing. I was always doing something else,” she explained.
At the end of her first year of riding races, she was leading lady rider. In her second year she tied for first place. She was hooked on the sport for sport’s sake.
“My father had his own horses. He rode in the heavyweight races,” she said. “Then he got more horses in training. My brother rode in the pair races, with my dad in the big races and I got into the ladies races.”
She continued to ride in ladies races until 1967. There was a layoff until 1987 when she took over the job as VS A racing secretary.
