Alumni Tournament Registration is still being accepted for the Sixth Annual Alumni Basketball Tournament. The tournament will be held on Friday and Saturday evenings, Nov. 25 and 26. Registration costs $10 per player and entitles the player to a t-shirt. Players must register and pay the fee by Nov. 18. Call the high school at 987-8575 for more information. Crisis Assistance Rappahannock Department of Social Services will operate the crisis assistance program this year to help alleviate heating emergencies. The program runs through March 15,1995. Funds may be used for repair or replacement of a heating source but may not be used for fuel. For further information contact Rappahannock Department of Social Services at 675-3313.
Ban on Burning Until the area receives more rain, there is a ban on open fires and smoking within 300 feet of woodlands or fields of dry grasses. Fires, even in grates provided for them are outlawed in the Shenandoah National Park. Very dry conditions have resulted in a number of forest fires recently.
