Mr. Reeve worked as an election judge in Sperryville. He said the North campaign strategy was to give up on the city vote, the black vote and the Northern Virginia suburbs and concentrate on winning in rural areas. “I was pretty pleased with Rappahannock County,” he said. “I felt all along that North had to win big in rural areas to win, and our job was to keep him from winning that big vote. When I saw that Robb won in Sperryville, I thought North was in trouble.”
The two precincts these men live in had the largest percentage turnout last Tuesday. In Amissville and in Sperryville 75 percent of the registered voters cast ballots in the U.S. Senate race. Flint Hill had the next largest turnout with 73 percent voting and Scrabble followed with 72 percent voting. In Washington and Chester Gap 68 percent of registered voters cast ballots in the senate race.
