Mr. McCarthy noted Rappahannock County unlike most counties does not tax businesses. There is ndt a business license tax, merchants capital tax or machinery and tools tax. He said, “They’re not being hit in any material way.” He said that most businesses pay to have commercial haulers handle their trash and a tipping fee generally adds from 15 to 20 percent to the cost of that.
