Rock Mills

There have been two recent letters regarding the naming of roads around Rock Mills. They appear to have been prompted by the statement my husband, Richard made at a hearing on county road names. Mr. Floyd Grigsby who WTote the first, and Mr. Ross Rottier who wrote the second, appear to have misunderstood what my husband, Richard, said at a supervisor hearing.
Richard believes that county road names should be the familiar ones that have been used for the last forty or fifty years. He also said that if the Jericho Road was named the Poe Road, then maybe the road at Rock Mills should be named after the Settles, noting their long-time history and the three Settle cemeteries. He was not actually saying that a road should be named after the Settles. He was just saying that the case for a road named “Poe” was not unique.
