Environment
Radicals?
To the Editor:
Mason Gardener claimed in his Nov. 9 letter that it was “environmental radicals who ran Disney’s American out of Prince William County.” Does he really label half the residents of Prince William as “environmental radicals?”
The University of Virginia Center for Survey Reserach, in a Prince William County citizen survey released in October, reported that “The ‘Disney’s America’ project was not very frequently mentioned by our respondents in their open end responses. Those who mentioned the project were split between persons favoring and persons opposed to it.” This confirms early results from another study that was terminated upon Disney’s departure; those results suggested that Disney stood about 50-50 in Prince William, but was overwhelmingly opposed by the rest of Northern Virginia.
