Eight Indicted

Rappahannock New* Staff Writer
Monday was Term Day in Rappahannock Circuit Court, and the Grand Jury handed down indictments to eight people.
James Riley Williston, 27, of Washington, was indicted for escape from jail, breaking and entering, and two counts of grand larceny, one for an automobile. Mr. - Williston is incarcerated in the Rappahannock County Jail.
Mack Russell Southerland, Jr., 28, of Culpeper, was indicted for felonious assault with an automobile, allegedly attempting to run over Ronnie Kennedy in the parking lot at the Sperryville Emporium on Oct. 12. He was also indicted for driving a vehicle recklessly on business property open to the public.
Michael Wharton, 22, of Washington, was indicted for malicious wounding to David Lee Smoot for an incident which occurred at Hillsdale Grocery on Aug. 28. In part, the criminal complaint by Mr. Smoot said, “Walked out of store went straite (sic) to my truck. Mike sed (sic) something to me. I opened my door and was hit back of the heid (sic) with a six pack of beer.”
Shannon Renee Cordani, 18, of Amissville, was indicted for grand larceny. She is charged with stealing $262 from Hackley’s Store in Amissville, where she was an employee.
