“The style is not linear; it jumps around and does not have a traditional story line. The toad will be used as a metaphor for other things. There will be several stories going on at once. It is a little like a jigsaw puzzle; you don’t see how they really fit together until the end of the piece.”
Students at local schools were lucky to have Ms. Wyrrick as an artist in residence last year, and last fall she did a program with the Full Circle at Sally Nash’s Workspace for Choreographers in Sperryville. That group also performed at the Kennedy Center. Also last fall, she participated in the Tages de Tanz Festival in Germany. Last week she returned from a residency at St. Mary’s College in Maryland where she performed “Can I Watch You?”
Both women look forward to performing in their home county of Rappahannock this Friday night. Mrs. Abell said, “It feels good to be performing in front of friends and neighbors. Sometimes I don’t care if we ever perform any place but here.”
Tickets are $8 general admission and $4 for students. They may be purchased in advance at Mountainside Market in Washington, or reservations can be made by calling Ki Theatre at 675-1615. Advance tickets or reservations are recommended.
