Melt shortening and set aside. 2. Beat egg. Add sugar, salt, shortening, and grated rind and mix well. 3. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and baking soda. 4. Alternating, add flour mixture and orange juice liquid to egg mixtures, beating until batter is smooth. 5. Add cranberries and nuts; mix thoroughly with batter. 6. Pour batter into small greased loaf pans. , ;f Bake approximately 60 minutes at 350 degrees. Cranberry Apple Pie 3/4 cup water 1-1/3 cup raw cranberries 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 4 tablespoon butter Pastry for double-crust 9-inch pie 6 cups sliced apples 2 cups sugar * 1/4 cup cornstarch 1 cup chopped walnuts Combine water, apples, cranberries. Bring to a boil and simmer 5 minutes. Add sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and walnuts. (Cook until thickened and comes to a boil. Pile into lined pie plate and dot with butter.
Roll out top crust slightly more than bottom. Cut into strips and put over filling in a lattice. Brush top with milk and sprinkle with sugar and nutmeg. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes or until golden.
