awards competition. Entries were avaluated by the scholastic review service CTB/McGraw-Hill to narrow the field to 1,200 regional finalists and soon to 120 regional award winners
A distinguished panel of judges, including past Heisman Trophy award recipients, will review the 120 regional award winners and name 24 national runners-up who will each receive a $1,000 donation for their school.
Also, 12 national finalists will be selected, one male and one female representing six geographic regions. These 12 national finalists will each receive a $3,000 donation for their school and will be invited to New York City to participate in the Heisman Trophy activites at the Downtown Athletic Club.
One male and one female will then be selected at the national award winners and presented their trophies during the Heisman Trophy national telecast on Saturday, Dec. 10 on ESPN. The two National Award Winners will each earn a $5,000 donation to their school.
The awards presentation will be made by Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas and program spokesman Archie Griffin, the only two-time Heisman Tropher Winner and current associate athletic director for The Ohio State University.
