RICHMOND — Two funding sources in Gov. George Allen’s budget are being questioned by the General Assembly members.
The House Appropriations and Senate Finance committees question the feasibility of the plan to tum over $95 million from the Trigon settlement to higher education.
The administration included $95 million, of $159 million Trigon offered to the state, for operating expenses of the state’s universities and colleges. The remainder would be used to establish a foundation to finance higher education research.
“Nothing would make us happier than having enough money for higher education, but it could be at least another two years before the money is available,” said Del. Alan A.
