Late Monday evening, Trooper C.A. Moore checked the Rappahannock County garage where Mr. Ferguson operates a business and found a vehicle matching the description of a truck reported stolen in Fairfax County in June, 1994 — the truck he has been accused of taking.
A second search warrant, for Mr. Ferguson’s business, MICA of Va. Inc. on U.S. 211 in Rappahannock County, was executed Tuesday morning. According to Trooper G.C. Little Jr., MICA contracts for highway mowing with the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Trooper Little said the search of Mr. Ferguson’s business revealed the missing truck, a 1983 Chevrolet S-10. A second pickup truck, which had no vehicle identification number displayed, also was confiscated.
Special agents with the state police auto theft investigation unit spent several hours Tuesday morning inspecting and cataloguing a number of vehicles and parts found at Mr. Ferguson’s business, according to Trooper Little. The agents will attempt to determine whther or not any of those parts have been reported stolen, he said.
Mr. Ferguson was released from jail Tuesday on $5,000 bond. Trooper Fiorvanti said Mr. Ferguson may face additional related charges in both Fauquier and Rappahannock counties.
