Of his youth wrestling program, coach Paul Paratore said, “It’s going great!”
He said there are 34 students, including one girl, out for the program that mostly takes in students in fifth through ninth grades, with one tenth grader. They range in weight from 70 to 220 pounds, he said.
After only 10 practices they ventured to Culpeper last Saturday to wrestle in a scrimmage. Most of the boys had at least two matches. Some had five or six, Mr. Paratore said.
“We didn’t keep score,” he said, but before they left, he asked them how many had won at least one match. He said almost all had.
“What I observed was more wins than losses,” he said. He was pleased to see the boys applying what he and assistant Jon Heddleston had taught them. He noted that Culpeper has had
