Two of the scorers in the game were Mike and Daniel Settle, who both made three-point shots. Jason Baldwin, Jonathan Moore and Mike Letsen played well on defense.
At the start of the varsity game, both Stonewall and Rappahannock were leaving holes in their defenses. Jason Brown started off the game able to weave in through Stonewall’s defense. Willie Eastham had good shots throughout the game from underneath the basket, though he did not take all the shots open to him.
During the second half. Stonewall started clustering under and in front of the basket, leaving only outside shots. Jon Butler made some good outside shots as did Willie Eastham and Jeff Atkins.
Coach Eugene Baltimore said unhappily at the end of the game, “We just didn’t come in; the lay-off hurt us. The execution wasn’t there tonight.”
The Panthers have practiced only twice since the Christmas break.
