The analysis of funding for nexj year’s budget also shows a decrease in federal funding of nearly $17,000. It did not include any estimate of spending or what increases in locart tax support for schools will be requested this year.
High school Principal Jack RaineS reported that implementing a block schedule at the high school will add a maximum of $13,450 to the budget^ $8,000 for additional teacher stipends for another art class and Spanish IV, $4,650 for textbooks, and $800 foe materials to offer an exploratory class to all eighth graders.
Helen Williams reported that the census of school-aged children will begin in March. That census is used to compute the amount of state sales tax the localities receive for education. Mrs. Williams said the county receives more than $1,000 over the three-year period covered by the cent sus for every school-aged child counti ed. '. J
