He came to Virginia as a refugee intending to return to China as soon as possible, but he stayed at diocesan headquarters working in administration and public relations for 28 years.
He was in Louisa County substituting for a sick priest, living in a trailer in the woods, and decided he liked parish work. So he stayed in Louisa for eight years, followed by four years in Madison County. He next came to Rappahannock County and has been here for eight years.
In that time the Catholic group here outgrew its small space in the old shop building of the Washington School owned by William Cardigan and built St. Peter’s Church just outside town on land donated by Ted and Renata Chapman.
