Choose Life

Warrenton Crisis Pregnancy Center, located at 578 Old Waterloo Road in the Waterloo Square, Suite 4A, offers free pregnancy tests. All services are provided free, which also fnclude a discussion of alternatives to abortion, including adoption referrals. They can also advise the client as to the development stages of her unborn child. They provide counseling to those persons who may be suffering guilt from a previous abortion. Counseling is also available to the fathers.
For those women who choose to keep their babies, the Center is there to provide them as much support as' possible. Even before the baby comes, they provide maternity clothes and housing referrals if needed. Other items provided include cribs, highchairs, infant seats, formula, diapers, and other items.
They are able to help clients as the community is able to help the Center by donating good, used items, as well as monetary gifts. The Center has only one paid position. All other staff members are volunteers. Brenda Kengla is the current director. Former director Susan Kruchten still volunteers her services to the Center.
Since opening in September 1994, the Warrenton Center has provided assistance to 251 clients.
Warrenton Crisis Pregnancy Center is open Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to p.m. and on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Other hours available by appointment. The 24-hour hotline number is 540347-7770. More volunteers are needed. If you can answer the phone in your after, hours, work in the Center, or provide housing for a client, please call the Center. On Monday, Jan. 22, thousands gathered in Washington, D.C. for the March for Life which commemorated . 23 years since the Supreme Court decision approving abortions.
Since that time, over 30 million babies have been aborted, which would not even meet the requests for adoption. The debate rages on. I believe choosing life is a choice one we can live with! In my opinion, abortion should never be used except to save the life of the mother.
Abortion is a legal procedure; we must work within the system to reduce the number of abortions. I hope Virginia will pass a parental notification bill this year.
1 realize this is a controversial issue, but I am not in a popularity contest. If 1 can save one baby, it will be worth all my efforts of encouraging a young girl to choose life for her baby.
