Trooper Woodard then gained consent from Mr. Reid to search his vehicle. He found a film canister in the compartment between the front seats. When Trooper Woodard opened it he smelled what he thought was PCP.
Mr. Reid told him it wasn’t and said he got the film canister from the dump in Culpeper County and had planned to use it for carrying extra nuts and bolts for his chain saws. He maintained this was true in court also when questioned on the witness stand.
