Labor Day and the new school year are almost upon us. At the Theatre at Washington, Va. plans made over the last several months are about to turn into performances as the new season gets underway early in September.
The Theatre’s session includes two Sunday afternoon productions for children, the film series presented by the Rappahannock Association for Arts and the Community (RAAC) on the third Friday of each month, and a wide variety of music from outstanding professional musicians.
The types of musical performances range from three jazz concerts, which are already heavily subscribed, to Celtic music, to three classical music concerts.

Sunday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m., Charlie Byrd Trio, Charlie Byrd, guitar, Joe Byrd, bass, and Chuck Redd, vibes, play jazz. Friday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. “Sling Blade” (R) (film), “one of the most powerful and original movies of the decade,” Boston Globe. Sunday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. (children’s program) The Story of “The Magic Box!” an original one-man show for children by Ritchie Porter. Saturday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. Music of Schubert, Mozart and Beethoven performed by Amanda Balestrieri, soprano, and Kenneth Slowik, fortepiano.
