Beth has started several singing and instrumental groups since she came to the county. The first, an a cappella vocal group, formed in 1979 and performed madrigals, Motown, gospel, folk and music of the ‘30s and ‘40s.

In 1994, she formed the Rappahannock Quintet, which blended the music of cello, flute, harp, dulcimer and violin.

At first this group played only original compositions by Beth, but they have since incorporated original music by all members of the group.

Last September, Beth read an article aboud a woman from Virginia Beach, Ka^hryil Thompson, and what she was doing withHbioharmonics. Beth was drawn to the idea of using music to form a new kind of therapy. The technique is based on well-researched methods to use the curative quality of music for therapeutic purposes.

Beth attended workshops conducted by Ms. Thompson and is now a fully certified bioharmonics practitioner. She even uses a computer to aid her in achieving balance and harmony for the body by having her clients speak into
