Fall festival planned
The Rappahannock Farmers’ Association is holding their third annual Fall festival at Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Kummli’s Windsor Lodge Farm on Sunday, Sept. 7 from 4 until 9 p.m. The cost is $15 per person, children under 12, free. This includes beef, pork and chicken barbecue, baked beans, cole slaw, rolls, beverage and dessert.
Activities include pony rides and hay maze for children, silent auction and raffle of John Deere STX-38 for adults, “lb keep Rappahannock beautiful we need your presence. Agriculture, in all its forms, keeps the land open, the views, inspiring, air and water clean, and a peaceful way of life,” said a spokesperson.

Karate classes to begin
Shorin-Ryu Okinawan Karate classes will begin Sept. 10 at Ki Theatre in Washington. Junior classes will be held 4 to 5:30 p.m. with adult classes from 5:30 to 7 p.m. each Wednesday. Democratic committee to meet
Rappahannock County Democratic Committee meeting will be held Thursday, Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Library. The meeting is open to all. For information call 987-8410.
Auction planned at Washington
Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue will sponsor an auction on Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. Items are still be accepted for this fund raiser. Donated items can be brought to the fire department or call 675-3615 for pick-up by jnembers.
Adult classes offered
Adult education classes are being offered by the Rappahannock County Public Schools for the Fall 1997 session. Classes will be taught by professional teachers, trade employees, and/or persons familiar with the subject being taught. Deadline for fall enrollment is Sept. 5. Fund raiser planned
The Rappahannock Historical Society is extending an invitation to persons interested in preserving our Rappahannock heritage to attend the society’s annual fund raiser on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. The garden party benefit and buffet dinner will be held at Ginger Hill, the home of the society’s president, Douglas Baumgardner at 12795 Lee Highway, Washington.
