for Conservation Zones that were publicly offered at the May 21 meeting were the culmination of this thoughtful, good-faith effort of the past three years.
Though those amendments may have been flawed in some details, they proposed a large step forward in protection of Rappahannock County’s scenic mountains. Their goal was right, and their methods reasonable.
A vocal protest by a handful of landowners and land developers that was orchestrated to stop any new regulations to protect the mountains seems to have stalled or perhaps undercut the Commission’s commendable effort.
