Gilmore plan
a good one
The number one issue at
the moment in the gubernatorial campaign seems to be the local personal property tax. It is important that citizens play close attention to each candidate’s basic position as they promise personal property tax relief.
No issue could more clearly define the difference in the philosophical bent of the candidates.
The traditional approach of the Democrats is to collect every possible dollar and use part of the revenue to curry favor with select groups of potential voters. It is my guess that a great majority of Virginians would prefer not having to pay the onerous property tax on their personal vehicle in the first place.
The Gilmore plan will in effect eliminate the property tax on the first $20,000 value of one personal vehicle, as opposed to his opponent’s plan to requiring us to pay all the tax and leave us hoping for a limited tax credit or check from our government.
