Derek Amos, Conservation Specialist with the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District (CSWCD), provides local farmers with conservation planning and technical expertise for improved water quality.

After two very dry summers and a very dry spring, providing adequate water for livestock has become a major issue for many local farmers. Many creeks and springs that are normally consistent water sources are drying up. Effective conservation planning and resource development can be the means to <• providing clean, clear water for livestock.

CSWCD assists eligible farmers with both conservation planning and financial assistance to establish an alternative water source for their livestock. Funds for this program are provided through the Virginia Agricultural Best
