He worked for 30 and more years in the computer industry. He was a pioneer in online/realtime systems. His early networks were forerunners of today’s valued added networks. Before retiring, Mr. Bracewell was a long serving member of the Office of the Future Council.
During his career, he won several awards; among them General Electric Engineer of the Year and the International Computers Systems Man of the Year. He was a past member of the Association of Computing Machinery, Data Processing Management Association and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
Mr. Bracewell was also a member of the British Computer Society and was listed in the Who’s Who in the East (USA) and Who’s Who in Finance and Industry.
A veteran of voluntary service in the U.S. Army’s 7th Cavalry Regiment, he acquired extensive combat leadership experience. His combat experience in the Korean War earned him numerous medals, awards and citations (and several wounds). He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge.
