• Music lessons are being taught throughout the summer. Specialists in Percussion, Trumpet, Flute, French Horn and Low Brass are providing one-on-one instruction at a nominal fee in the Band Module at RCES. Anyone interested in lessons should contact Lynne Fournier at 752-2427.

$300 Claire Schadler ' Of course, there’s fundraising! We’re proud to note that we netted over $9,000 this past school year via our various fund raisers (mainly fruit sales).

We’re very appreciative of the community’s continued support of our fundraising programs, as the proceeds turn in to band instruments, sheet music, uniforms, scholarships and the funding of mentor instruction.

On the subject of mentor instruction, band director Lynne Fournier applied for and won a $900 award from the Headwaters Foundation in 1998 to spend on master classes taught by five professional musicians. This was a great program that we intend to continue.

We’ve benefited by the good works of many individuals, groups and businesses, so many that we can’t mention them all in this space. Much support has also come from the taxpayers of Rappahannock in their funding of our new practice facility in the upcoming high school addition.

We hope that you’ll join us at our regular Band Booster meetings every third Thursday (next meeting: July 15, 7:30 p.m. at RCES Library).
