The Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District (CSWCD) is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Its responsibilities include providing education and technical assistance to manage, protect, and enhance land and water resources in the counties of Rappahannock, Orange, Madison, Greene, and Culpeper.
Founded in 1939, it is the largest of the 46 conservation districts in Virginia, covering an area of 1,445 square miles and serving approximately 91,000 constituents.
The monthly CSWCD board meeting was held July 6 in Orange. Dick McNear, the newly elected Chairman of the Board, chaired the meeting.
