including holistic herbalism, introduction to phytochemistry, herbal preparations, organic/biodynamic gardening, anatomy and physiology, and clinical applications; a nine month clinical internship program covering topics including assessment skills, medical histories, phytopharmacology, advanced formula making, and client relations; and special masters programs such j as “Doctrine of Signatures, Diagnostics and Plant Wisdom,” and “Sacred Plant Medicine.”
In the near future a three year clinical program, a two year herb growers program, and a two year medicine makers program will be added, and all three will share the coursework presently covered in the Foundations program.
The students involved in the Foundations course that I sat in on meet once a month, Friday to Sunday, from March through November, and are required to camp out at or lodge in the Center’s facilities. This provides an interaction and develops relationships that appear to enhance the educational component, and create an herbalist kinship that can only help promote the holistic life approach.
In the midst of this Dreamtime, one can feel and se6 the health of spirit, mind and body, as well as that of the environment in which it is located. Both Kathleen and Teresa highlighted the generosity of David and Maggie Cole in providing access to all of Sunnyside Farm, and noted that the Coles were encouraging their efforts at planting native species and medicinals in noncultivated areas of the farm. All of these efforts seem to enhance the physical and spiritual environment at the Center.
There are things in the air here that I don’t understand, and certainly cannot adequately describe, but they make me feel right. I am drawn, not quite screaming, into this world that must touch some other world. The term ‘holistic’ begins to take on real meaning, and yet one needs to have faith for there are forces working together that we cannot at all comprehend. The Dreamtime Center does not attempt to answer all these questions, but provides a depth of training and education to develop practitioners who can, with professionalism and confidence, provide their skills in their little comer of the dreamtime.
