our RCES Head Custodian, David Alther, was chosen to be the Rappahannock News Citizen of the Week last week. No one deserves to be recognized more than this man who loves children and gives so selflessly to our students and teachers everyday of the year. Thanks to the efforts of many folks and a Virginia Commission for the Arts Grant, we will have three i artists at RCES this fall to work ^ with our children on a project entitled, Making Waves: A Diversity of Forms, Functions, and Feelings. Musician Paul Reisler will provide the music component, artist Rose Marie Prins will work with the Visual Arts and dancer Sharon Wyi+ick will be involved with dance, drama and theater. It promises to be a very exciting program. Teachers Harriette Rosenblatt and Joy Rollins are coordinating this incredible effort. On a personal note, I am very grateful and most appreciative to all of the wonr derful folks who volunteered to write articles for the paper this summer while I was on leave. Each was very willing to write an article about their particular area of interest, and, thanks to them, I learned a great deal more about our school system and its programs. I hope you did as well. The Rappahannock News has provided our schools with this incredible opportunity to share what is happening in the schools with all of you. We hope that this article is in some srpall way of interest to each of you. !< This is the year of the Class of 2000! That alone is pretty amazing.
