The teams then traveled to Fredrikshavan to compete in the Dana Cup, a tournament involving teams from 26 countries. Both squads played three first round matches, then advanced to a second round bracket depending on how they fared in the opening round.
The U-18 team went 2-1 in the first round and advanced to the quarter finals of the championship bracket in their tournament. The U15 squad finished the first round of their tournament with one win, one loss and one tie. They went to the consolation bracket, and made it all the way to the championship game before being eliminated.
Coach Kearney was pleased with the performance of both teams. In addition to the international exposure, he said that this experience showed these young men that they can compete with anyone, regardless of whether the opponent is from Richmond or Norway.
