On the issue of ramps fotf ADA access to the public area, the revised plans call for two sets of steps leading from Main Street. Access ramps to; the area will come from Clopton House. The board was satisfied with this proposal. *

The proposed new parking entrance for the Clopton House on Gay Street would provide a straight entrance into the lot, but would be in a spot where the sidewalk is two or three feet above the street.
The architects propose to put in a 20 foot wide entrance, with the sidewalk gradually sloping downward to meet the pavement on both sides. The slope would be at about an eight percent grade. The board approved the proposed parking, also by a unanimous vote.

In addition to ARB approval, the project is subject to Health Department approval, VDOT approval for the proposed parking entrance and Town Council approval on a special use permit to expand the floor space intended for commercial use.
