Mrs. Preston Moore of Woodberry Forest and Ray Snead of Washington and Charlottesville were the victors in the annual Labor Day Mixed Doubles Whistle Cup Tennis Tournament held Monday on the court at Piedmont Farm, Sperryville home of Mr. and Mrs. N.K.G. Tholand. Mrs. William Hargett of Washington and Paul Nichols of Flint Hill, instructors in the 4-H sponsored swimming classes held in Rappahannock County this summer, were presented engraved silver bowls in appreciation of their work with the young people. More than 80 youngsters were reached through the water safety program though all of these did not complete the course. The Amissville Ruritan Club and the Rappahannock Coon Club held a joint picnic Sunday at the Coon Club grounds and pond near Amissville. In addition to a bountiful picnic lunch the event also included horse shoe pitching, softball and fishing.
