The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary will be holding their first Fireman’s Apple Festival and Antique Car Show on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the carnival grounds.
There will be fun for the entire family including an apple bobbing contest, a quilt contest, an apple pie contest, a pumpkin pie contest, antique cars, crafts and lots of good food.
The Sperryville Auxiliary is seeking contestants to enter their handmade quilts and homemade apple and pumpkin pies. To enter your quilts or homemade pies call Charlotte Jenkins at 987-8683 before 7 p.m. Please no calls after 7 p.m.
The Auxiliary is also looking for craft vendors. Anyone who would like to be a part of the festival or would like more information about this upcoming event may call Marsha Thompson at 987-8530 or Diane Weakley at 987-8275.
Belated birthday wishes go out to my brother Ronnie Jenkins who celebrated his on Aug. 23.
Mrs. Lee Anna Wharton was honored with a surprise birthday party on Aug. 28, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Dodson and Amber. The party was hosted by her children, Lisa Dodson and Albert Wharton.
Those helping her to celebrate were Katie Wilson of Amissville, Bobby Knighting and Jean Ralls of Troy, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Dodson, Mrs. Eva Dodson, Mrs. Sandy Jenkins, Timmy and Kristin, Ruth Atkins, Mrs. Ora Smith, Marshall Dodson, Barbara Adolfi and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wharton and Gary.
She received many nice gifts and we wish her a happy belated birthday.
