Family reunion slated
The family reunion of the late Henry T. Wharton and Lillie M. Cloud Wharton will be held at the Rappahannock Park near Washington on Sept. 4. “Family members and friends are invited to attend, bring a picnic basket and join us,” said a spokesperson.
Oratorio Society to begin rehearsals
The Front Royal Oratorio Society will begin rehearsals for its 1999-2000 season on Monday, Sept! 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Front Royal Presbyterian Church at 115 Luray Avenue in Front Royal. Prospective new members are welcome, no audition required. “All are invited to come and join singers from a six-county area,” said an organizer.
George Amos, Music Director, promises an enjoyable season for singers and audiences alike. The first concert will feature Advent/Christmas music from composers throughout the centuries. In the spring, the proposed feature work will be Carl Orff’s spectacular and ever-popular Carmina Burana. For more information call 622-6974.
RoughRide scheduled
The third annual Rappahannock RoughRide will be held at 10 a.m. in Washington on Sept. 18. A charity, “Tour de Rappahannock” with three different routes will benefit the Fauquier Free Clinic, which provides health care for the residents of Rappahannock and Fauquier counties. Fundraiser underway
The Rappahannock County High School Athletic Boosters are beginning their main fundraiser of the year.
For a donation of only $20 you could be eligible to win a grand prize of $1,000; a second place prize of $750 or a third place prize of $250. Prizes will be given away at the last boy’s basketball game in December.
Proceeds benefit the athletes at the high school and the athletic department. Tickets are available from any RCHS coach, at any home game or from any of the following Booster Club memhers: Nancy and Calvin Atkins, Monte and Lisa Clinedinst or Cheryl Taylor.
