I hough we all tend to think of our lives as a straight line from Birth to Death, Ki's presentation of "From There to Here" perhaps comes closer to the way we actually experience it: feisty old women who live for today, the first awakening to the mysteries of sex, death that comes as a surprise, a daughter whose departure to college empties a house but fills it with memories, births resisted and births welcomed.
Peter Hombostel begins the evening’s storytelling with "Death Comes to Garota," as he describes his astonishment one day upon seeing Death walk up the street past him as he was sitting in a Brazilian cafe. Hornbostel, a lawyer whose practice has taken him for many years to Brazil, may be remembered for his great story, "Uncle Theodore," which he narrated on the stage of Ki Theatre several years ago, as well as his Ki roles as King Herod in The Three Kings play and as one of the shepherds in The Shepherds Play.
