The addition of assistant coach Mark Ramey provided a significant increase in technical expertise to the team. A former soccer player at St. Mary's College in Maryland, Coach Ramey was bitten by the running bug there and ran his first marathon in 1979 and he said, "I've been running ever since."
Still competing, he took a group of Panther team members to Warrenton two weeks ago for a 5K fun run. He just happened to win his age group. On practice days when he's not running with or talking to members of the team, you see him riding around the course on his mountain bike offering encouragement to members of the squad during workouts.
