There were reasons that could be stated for not giving a pay raise as well as reasons for it. The Administrative Assistant, who has dedicated herself to the Town for six years, was sitting in the room recording the meeting when the vote went against her. It plainly hurt her. She deserves better.
For a small group of people to find joy in the hurt and to applaud was a sad reflection on the character of the Town of Washington where most people are happy and sensitive to others. We are human beings and need to practice humanity.
