In addition floral arrangements have been selected for display at each of the Tour Houses. Three houses have been selected for the tour:
(1) Potter's Ridge, a handmade house nestled in deep forest, is filled with artist and potter Jeanne Drevas's sculptures, vessels and quilts. The house owned by Jeanne Drevas and husband, Carl Aplin, is a 25 year old work in progress.
(2) The Segalla House, a renovation of the Piedmont School built in 1850, reflects Roger Segalla's lifelong interest in cooking, yoga, and the orient. The school's stone and log foundation remains in place and new additions have been made. A Zen garden, pond, swimming pool, and flower garden comprise the outside.
(3) Sharp Rock Farm, located in an unspoiled, rolling valley at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains next to the Hughes River, has been renovated and restored by David and Marilyn Armor. This property includes a restored main house built in 1865, a small cottage dating to around 1790 as well as a six-acre vineyard and winery. Guests are also invited to tour the vineyard and taste the award winning wines in the tasting room.
Tea and sandwiches, included in the $15 price of admission, will be served from 2 to 5 p.m. each day at the Middleton Inn. Listed on the Virginia Landmark Registry the house was built in 1850 by Middleton Miller, manufacturer of uniforms for the Confederate Army. AAA recently awarded Four Diamonds to this Bed and Breakfast, owned by Mary Ann Kuhn.
