opening of the School Board meeting last week. It is always a pleasure to see students represent our schools in such a responsible way.
• We need a day, or better yet a week, to recognize and thank our custodial staffs at both schools. These incredible folks are amazing. They are tireless workers who are always available to help at a moments notice and seem genuinely happy to assist in any way they can. Mr. Shelby Atkins, Mr. Robert Lamery, Mr. Walter Frye, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Atkins and son, and Mrs. Sherry King work long hours to provide this essential service to all of us and we are extremely grateful.
• The school system is in the process of pursuing a three year grant through the U.S. Department of Education that will support after school, evening, weekend and summer programs on site in our schools. The grant encourages schools to become Community Learning Centers and to invite other local agencies to use their facilities when school is not in session.
